American Who Had Been Chained to Mexican Jail Bed Comes Home

Nice Deb reported today that Jon Hammar, an American jailed in Mexico, has been released and crossed the border into the USA last night.

Hammar had gone on vacation to Mexico with friends, bringing with him his antique hunting rifle. He was told, falsely, that his gun would be allowed if he completed the appropriate paperwork. He attempted to register the firearm but was arrested in the process of trying to cooperate. The former Marine, a war veteran who reportedly had been in therapy for his PTSD, was chained to his bed in a Mexican jail, where he spent four months, during his trial.

Hammar was finally cleared of gun charges, and arrived in Texas last night. The first thing he said he wanted was a shower.
